    We challenge ourselves to be different - to move beyond trends and escape the pull of passing hypes. We stay true to our style, guided by instinct and close to the heart.

    Daily life is a dance of duality, a continuous search for balance between opposing poles. Between breathing in and breathing out, running towards or moving away, doing or not doing, there is a space filled with thoughts, feelings, experiences, actions, and desires.

    It is within this space that the real challenge lives: to find our own rhythm, embrace the tension of opposites, and choose a path that is unmistakably ours.

    Quality and longevity are at the heart of everything we create. It begins with our garments: pieces designed with intention, made to endure and created to become more meaningful over time. But making things last goes beyond what we wear. It defines the relationships we build with our customers, suppliers, resellers and our dedicated community of BLACK lovers.

    Everything is interconnected and relative. We see dressing as something that reaches beyond the body to touch the soul; part of a never-ending creative process in which ideas, materials and craftsmanship continuously influence one another. Working consciously with limited resources, each creation takes on its own identity, evolving from garment to collector’s item and ultimately finding its audience around the world.

    For us, true value lies not in the temporary, but in creating something worth keeping.

INSPIRATION

Designing and creating a line of garments does not come at a blink of an eye. It is an ongoing process with all senses "ON". Adding up to a creative cabinet of moods and impressions.

INSPIRATION IS EVERYWHERE

We find our inspiration everywhere and anytime. On the shores of Portugal, the country where most of our garments are made. In the peace of nature, surrounded by silence. In crowded cities, where we attend the fairs and meet our resellers. 

   

THE JOY OF CREATING

One of our key principals is the joy of creating. Preferably from scratch. This process often begins with ideas for prints on garments, which are designed in house.  

   

Raised in the eighties

We are kids from the 80's. Icons of our time go by the name of Blondie and Bowie. We admire photographers like Helmut Newton and Peter Lindbergh for their dedication to black and white. We love a bit of shabby, a touch of imperfection. And above all we are passionately dedicated to being different.  

 

SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability starts with creating a quality garment. A garment that withstands time and trends, will last longer. Sustainability is also about sticking to style. BLACK by K&M creates timeless quality pieces.

When it comes to production our first thought regards the production quantity. A great deal of waste by the fashion industry is caused by overproduction. By limiting production quantities, we simply produce what we need to fulfill wholesale pre-orders and estimated consumer sales.
