Meet Klaes and Myra. The K&M in BLACK by K&M.

After having started with design, production and sales of colored dresses, K&M took the black turn in 2012. Today they form the heart of their avant-garde brand, their two shops and their online platform, www.LAB1925.com.

Much has changed, style remains their constant.

2016

PORTUGAL

With increasing attention at fashion trade fairs and solid production partners in Portugal, BLACK by K&M is able to grow steadily season after season.

Nowadays the brand is sold on 5 continents in more than 20 countries. Making the world a blacker place :-)

2018

NICHE REBELS

The black avant-garde style blends in well with the rebellious eighties mood. Edgy romance meets poetic punk. BLACK by K&M evolves into a connoisseur brand for lovers of black.

2020

BLCK PROJECTS

A new milestone. Adding a unisex menswear line to the BLACK by K&M collections.

Under the name BLCK Projects. The menswear line is a blend of raw looks and refined garments. Inspired by the streets of Copenhagen and Berlin, designed for the urban explorer.

SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability starts with creating a quality garment. A garment that withstands time and trends, will last longer. Sustainability is also about sticking to style. BLACK by K&M creates timeless quality pieces. 

As for the process of production our first and foremost important thought regards the production quantity. A great deal of waste by the fashion industry is caused by overproduction. By limiting production quantities, we simply produce what we need to fulfill wholesale pre-orders and estimated consumer sales.

BLACK by K&M has signed up as participant in the collective approach to make the sector more sustainable by collecting used garments to be re-used or recycled.

For our deliveries we rely on the services of DPD. A delivery provider which precisely measures their carbon footprint per parcel, reducing it in any way they can, and offsetting the remaining emissions by funding clean energy projects around the world. The result is 100% carbon neutral parcel delivery across Europe.

  

INSPIRATION

Designing and creating a line of garments does not come at a blink of an eye. It is an ongoing process with all senses "ON". Adding up to a creative cabinet of moods and impressions.

INSPIRATION IS EVERYWHERE

We find our inspiration everywhere and anytime. On the shores of Portugal, the country where most of our garments are made. In the peace of nature, surrounded by silence. In crowded cities, where we attend the fairs and meet our resellers. 

   

THE JOY OF CREATING

One of our key principals is the joy of creating. Preferably from scratch. This process often begins with ideas for prints on garments, which are designed in house.  

   

Raised in the eighties

We are kids from the 80's. Icons of our time go by the name of Blondie and Bowie. We admire photographers like Helmut Newton and Peter Lindbergh for their dedication to black and white. We love a bit of shabby, a touch of imperfection. And above all we are passionately dedicated to being different.
